Enjoyed by locals and tourists alike, the king cake is a delicious oval-shaped treat complete with festive sprinkles and a hidden trinket. A miniature plastic baby is placed somewhere inside each king cake and is said to bring luck and prosperity to whoever finds it in their slice. Jose put a fun spin on this local tradition by wax carving a king cake baby swinging on the cake while awaiting the Mardi Gras festivities.
